Freshman advice! Please Help! Thanks!?

Okay so I just moved counties. I know no one here and I'm going to a special school for gifted kids. I really want to make friends there but I'm really shy. I wasnt a loser but I want the most popular at my old school. I just want to meet someone I can connect with! And do you have any advice about high school? Do you get to carry your backpacks around? Is PDA allowed. Cellphones? Please help! Thanks!
