Why would the Taurus do this? help!?

I'm trying to understand why the Taurus male would cuddle and kiss me. Steal kisses in public, hold my hand and be romantic when we're together but be suprised that I thought he was interested in me? Not only that, but we have close mutual friends. Why would he try to have a platonic relationship but treat it like a romantic one? He seemed like a straightforward guy before this. I'm a pisces.
